Meet 91-Squad-1

This 2006 Chevy Tahoe has been donated to Halifax EMS from the Terry Ferrell Firefighter Fund (terryfund.org). We are deeply appreciative of the support from the Terry Fund. When we opened the truck, we discovered 3 AEDs, 3 mobile radios, and a lot of other equipment. Thank you!

The vehicle has become home to our EKG, oxygen, and other medical supplies. It has radios for our region, VT State Police and western Massachusetts. Additionally, it has a bluetooth remote mic for scene management.

EMS Law Changes

The State of Vermont changed EMS law for 2014. While EMTs are permitted to use more medications and A-EMT are permitted to use more tools during medical emergencies, the law dramatically increased our operating costs. The law may cause Halifax EMS to change our operating model. No longer can we afford to buy all possible medications for every EMT. These medications expire at one year. Halifax EMS is considering the use of a support vehicle that would respond to all calls.

EKG

Our EKG is fast becoming non-compliant with the new EMS regulations. This means that we are initiating the process of securing a new EKG that provides capnography as well as the full suite of utilities that our present model does e.g.AED, 4/12 lead EKG, pacing, defibrillation, external BP, Sp02 monitoring.

Our goals

  1. Provide skilled pre-hospital emergency medical care
  2. Provide education and training to members of our community in allied health and emergency medicine
  3. Provide community outreach on health & safety related topics.

Halifax EMS is a not-for-profit 501-C-3 corporation.
